JUNGLE SPEED

Jungle Speed was invented around 3,000 years ago by the Aboulou Tribe in Eastern Trisopotamia. It requires you to have quick reflexes and good powers of observation. First, the totem is placed in the center of the table and all of the cards are dealt face down. Next, players lay down cards one by one. As soon as two cards with matching symbols are revealed, the two players who dealt the matching cards race to grab the totem situated in the center of the playing area. The player who grabs the totem first gives all of the cards he has turned over to the player who did not grab the totem. You must be careful though! Many of the cards look alike and if a player grabs the totem when he is not entitled to, he will be obliged to collect all the cards on the table. Unlike traditional Bocce that uses heavy wooden balls, Sof-Bocce can be played anywhere! These soft, crocheted-cover balls are firm enough for game play, but slightly squishy for safety. (Think over-size hacky sacks.) Toss the small, white Pallino ball onto your choice of playing field: dorm room, kithen floor, up the stairs, on the furniture.... Then throw or roll one of the larger balls to land as close to the Pallino as possible. Take turns with an opponent (or opposing team) trying to land your Sof-Bocce balls ever closer to the Pallino. Is the other guy blocking your victory? Go ahead and knock him out of the way, because only the player with the closest ball scores points. Eleven points wins, but you have to win by two.
