Carcassonne

This is a tile placement game that takes place in the city of Carcassonne, a southern city of France, during the medieval period. With each passing turn, players slowly expand the landscape as tiles placed with fields, towns, cities, and cloisters are laid down adjacent to each other. Players can place markers on objects (such as buildings, roads, or farms) to indicate their claim, thereby ensuring points. Markers can represent monks, thieves, farmers, or knights and are either referred to as "Meeples" or "Followers." Some markers gain points during the game, while others are not scored until the end, therefore requiring a sometimes delicate balance. The tiles are randomly drawn, and placement of the tiles is very important. The winner of the game is the player with the most points. With this expansion, the players have new possibilities of strengthening their influence in the area around Carcassonne. Now, traveling merchants transport their goods to surrounding cities and monasteries. The cities in the surrounding countryside can increase to a size large enough to elect their own mayors. Simple farmers build large and prosperous farms. The church then tries to impress their importance by establishing abbeys. This is not a stand-alone game. Players of this game assemble the prehistoric scene with tiles illustrating lakes, rivers, forests, and grasslands. Members of the tribe are sent out to forage for food by various means. This version is played similarly to the original Carcassonne yet with some new options. Carcassonne - Inns and Cathedrals is the first major expansion for the original, award winning, Carcassonne game. This expansion allows for the following: Each player is given a big marker (or meeple) that counts as two instead of one. An entire new set of meeples allow for a sixth player to be added. There are new kinds of tiles depicting inns and cathedrals. The cathedrals add triple value to a city and the inns add double values to the roads - provided they are completed. Cities, roads, and cloisters are depicted in new shapes. New score cards allow for more convenient score tracking. Please note: this is not a stand alone game. This set includes seven new landscape tiles for the original Carcassonne and five expansion tiles for Carcassonne - Hunters and Gatherers. The original Carcassonne or Carcassonne - Hunters and Gatherers required for play.		Carcassonne - The Castle

A very entertaining variation of the Carcassonne series, Carcassonne - The Castle is a stand alone game, designed exclusively for two player use. There are elements to this game that differ from the original game, however, the basic theme is still the same. The game occurs inside of a castle (supposedly one that was built during a regular Carcassonne game) that is surrounded by a perimeter wall that fits together in a jigsaw fashion. This wall serves as a border for the castle as well as a score tracker. The game is played within this wall, where the players will form the fortress from within. Wooden meeples (also called markers or followers) represent merchants, heralds, and knights and score points when strategically placed within areas of intended control. Just as in the original game, the markers earn the points only after various land tiles have been joined and completed. The game ends when there are no more tiles and the person with the most points (some points are scored during the game, while other points are determined at the end) wins the game! The Count of Carcassonne is an expansion that is played with the full version of Carcassonne. This expansion includes 12 city tiles, one wood figure known as "the count", and complete instructions. The original Carcassonne is required for play. Not compatible with Hunters and Gatherers or The City.
Carcassonne - The Discovery

The people of Carcassonne have become overcrowded and some have decided it is time to branch out. In this game, players have begun exploring distant lands to establish new settlements. This adventure takes place over sea, atop mountain ranges, and through grasslands. Players must deploy followers (a.k.a. Meeples) such as navigators, brigands, and explorers, in a strategic fashion to maximize points. The point system in this version has a slightly new slant from its predessor, Carcassonne, in that you decide when to score your points (some points are scored during the game while others are designed for scoring at the end the game). Completed regions score more points at the conclusion, however, they also absorb valuable turns and resources. The decision will have to be carefully evaluated. Carcassonne - The Discovery is an exciting game that allows for two to five "explorers"! Carcassonne - The Princess and the Dragon is a fantasy expansion for the prize-winning game Carcassonne! The land around Carcassonne is being visited by a dragon, making life very difficult for the followers. Brave heroes venture forth to face the danger, but without the aid of the fairies their chances are not good. In the city, the princess seeks help from the knights, and farmers build secret passages to move about undetected by the dragon. This is not a stand-alone game. The River II is a mini-expansion set for the Carcassonne games. It contains twelve river tiles and may played with the first river expansion. Players will lay down the river tiles first, before placing other tiles. Followers (or Meeples), may not be placed on river segments, however the player who lays down the tile containing the lake/volcano tile may immediately place the starting "normal" tile (from the Carcassonne game). That player may also set his or her first follower immediately on the starting tile as well. Adds a nice visual effect to the over all landscape!
Carcassonne - Traders and Builders

Carcassonne - Traders and Builders is the second major expansion to the original Carcassonne game. This expansion set includes twenty-four tiles, containing the added features of cities and bridges. Traders have the ability to acquire extra points for players, while builders allow players to set down extra tiles, therefore allowing the cities and roads to progress more rapidly. A pig pawn has the potential to add value to a farm, if strategically placed. This set adds a nice variety to an already fun game! Please Note: This game is not a stand alone game and requires a copy of Carcassonne to play. Take the popular Carcassonne game with you anywhere you go! This game is played like the original with smaller components and a convenient linen bag (which also serves as the scoring track). Players must carefully maneuver their followers (such as farmers, thieves, knights, and monks) to maximize points.
